Kristin is the true north of your triathlon journey: guiding you forward, responding to your ups and downs, redirecting when needed, and always focusing on the goals ahead.
I believe that consistency is the foundation of success in triathlon. I expect my athletes to hold themselves to a high standard of day-to-day adherence to the training plan when things are going well to provide room for those times when it isn’t. I also encourage my athletes to let go of perfection. If an athlete is consistent over the long term, perfection isn’t necessary.
When I start working with an athlete, I meet them where they are today, not where they were 10 years ago or where they want to be in two years. With this starting point, we can paint a picture of what goals are most realistic now and what we can work toward over the coming year and beyond.
As an athlete, I have bounced back and forth between triathlon and running. I completed my first Ironman race in 2013, then turned to running where I went from being a 4+ hour marathoner to a sub-3 PR and narrowly missed qualifying for the 2016 Olympic Trials. I returned to triathlon after that, where I had several top-5 amateur finishes and qualified for my pro card. I raced as a pro for a year before Covid hit, when I ventured into ultra-running. These days, after the birth of my daughter, I’m enjoying my healthy return to endurance sports and look forward to the day she and my husband are waiting for me at the finish line of a race.
I view my role as a coach more as a guide and a guardian of the big picture in training and racing. I provide the tools to help my athletes achieve their goals, troubleshoot issues as they arise, and monitor overall progress throughout a training season. The athlete, though, must take ownership of their own success and commit to the work required to achieve their goals.
