Early on in the process of building NYX Endurance, we named our values. More importantly than what we wanted to do (endurance coaching), we knew what we wanted to create more space for in the world: community & courage.
Endurance is our medium. Community and courage are our purpose.
Community is inclusion. It is belonging to and with a group of people who value each other’s authenticity. It is not about fitting in. Fitting in is conformity. Conformity is a barrier to belonging.
We created NYX out of our burning need for what was missing; to honor what lives quietly under the illusion of separation and division between us:
Underneath winning vs. losing
Underneath success vs. failure
Underneath athlete vs. non-athlete
And all the other ways we are divided within ourselves and amongst each other.
The need for empathy is loud. Courage is how we get there.
At NYX Endurance, courage isn’t dramatic. It is not grandiose or domineering. Courage is the consistent expression of our truest selves, no matter the judgment from the outside. Courage is leading from our hearts, when all of the systems around us are held in place by empty rationalizations: That’s just the way it’s always been.
Courage is accepting ourselves for where we are right now, not cutting ourselves down for where we think we should be. It is celebrating the little wins in the face of a society that says only the big ones matter; that says you’ll get left behind if you take a minute to breathe it all in; that says you can rest when you’re dead.
We are on the journey of our dreams, not a journey to our dreams.
At NYX Endurance, we celebrate Pride because of who our people are, right now in this moment. Not because of what they have or have not accomplished. Not based on what they might or might not accomplish.
You couldn’t fit in here if you tried because you already belong. All we ask is that you show up as yourself.
As radically and unapologetically yourself as you possibly can.
Happy Pride.
